The Resistance Archives
The Resistance Archives is built from a simple belief: resistance must be honoured and remembered.
About
The Resistance Archives is a community driven digital repository of global resistance. We are founded on a common principle of honouring those who have risen up against colonialism, imperialism, fascism, occupation, apartheid, and all forms of oppression.
The Archives was founded by a group of friends in response to the widespread erasure and distortion of resistance movements in mainstream narratives. Too often, the stories of those who fought for liberation are forgotten, sanitized, or vilified. We created this archive to preserve their memory, challenge historical amnesia, and make the legacy of resistance accessible to all.
Grounding Principles
-
Commitment to Liberation
We uplift movements that seek to dismantle systems of oppression and build a more just world. We stand with all oppressed peoples in their struggles for self-determination, dignity, and freedom.
-
Anti-Colonial, Anti-Imperialist, Anti-Fascist
We oppose all forms of colonialism, imperialism, and fascism.
-
Historical Integrity
We aim to present resistance movements in their full complexity. We do not sanitize or romanticize resistance; we honour it by telling the truth.
-
Open Knowledge
We believe that history should be accessible to all. Our work is publicly available, free from any academic gatekeeping, and is intended for anyone seeking to learn.
-
Respect for Fighters and Movements
We work with deep respect for those we feature. We refuse to exploit or sensationalize their lives and struggles.
-
No Platform for Oppression
We do not archive or uplift movements rooted in settler colonialism, patriarchy, homophobia, transphobia, anti-Asian hate, anti-Black racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, or any form of bigotry.
-
International and Intersectional Solidarity
We stand in international and intersectional solidarity with all peoples resisting oppression.
