Our Mission Breakthrough News is a nonprofit media and educational organization dedicated to independent, fact-based reporting, and analysis on the issues shaping our world. We are a recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in the United States.

Dimitri Lascaris is an award-winning lawyer and journalist based in Montreal, Canada and Kalamata, Greece. After graduating from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law in the 1990s, Dimitri started his legal career at the Wall Street law firm Sullivan & Cromwell.

Founded in 2008 as an intensive summer research program in Paris, the CTW/ATC has grown over the years to include an online summer school, public symposiums and book launches, online lectures and interviews, and an extensive  video archive  as a free public educational resource.

We seek to build a bridge between academic production and political and social movements in order to promote critical thinking and stimulate debates and research with an emancipatory perspective that serves the people’s aspirations.

Dr. Jason Hickel serves on the Climate and Macroeconomics Roundtable of the US National Academy of Sciences, the advisory board of the Green New Deal for Europe , the Rodney Commission on Reparations and Redistributive Justice, and the Lancet Commission on Sustainable Health.
