American Indian anti-imperialism
Written by Nick Estes
Thomas Jefferson didn’t call us “merciless Indian Savages” In the Declaration of Independence just out of spite. The settler nation’s founding document spelled out its view of American Indian nations as the both the traitorous external and internal enemy—in other words, the Original Red Scare.
This newsletter examines history and politics from an American Indian anti-imperialist perspective. History is the primary focus because our own histories have been forbidden and erased. If history wasn’t important, the colonizers wouldn’t try making it up all the time.
