History of Xinjiang Region

Over the past few decades, much has been written in western media about supposed human rights abuses in China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region involving charges of forced labor, slavery, and genocide.  

But are these charges accurate? This collection provides many detailed and credible reports, articles, interviews and ground-level videos examining the situation from a variety of sources, both Chinese and not. In doing so, it makes clear the nature of the accusations are politically motived and stem from a complex history that includes violent separatist extremism, western destabilization efforts, economic interests and much more.
