Unequal Exchange, Multipolarity and the New Mood

For hundreds of years, the value produced by the labour of the workers of the world and the natural resources contained in the earth has flowed overwhelmingly from the nations inhabited by the majority of humanity to the centres of capitalist power in Europe and the United States - frequently referred to as the "west". This historic injustice - driven by the mechanisms of capital accumulation and unequal exchange and justified through the imposition of violent racial hierarchies and concepts like "terra nullius" - has led us to the present state of the world: a globe economically and militarily dominated by western capital at the expense of most of humanity.

However, through centuries of resistance by indigenous peoples, the decolonial struggles of the 20th century and the present day rise of China and the anti-imperialist axis the primacy of western capital is no longer certain. This collection traces the history of imperialism, resistance and the rising new mood in the global south.
